So begins my career in the Watch as a soldier, fighting sexism and the threat of a distrustful leadership. Add to that the attentions of an overly handsome peer named Firebird – who wouldn't be so bad except that he's determined to meddle in my life. For my own good, of course.
The deeper I get into the Watch though, the clearer it becomes that our true mission is more sinister than what I was told.
I thought I'd found something to live for. Now I'm just trying to stay alive.
